(Here's the boys the day we planted the garden...this one is a picture of the cutest garden markers ever that the boys and I made. It's a tiny picture of the veggie sandwiched by two clear, glass stones glued together. Then you hot glue the stones to a stick and cover up the hot glue with raffia...they are too cute!)
This spring, Jarrod moved my two little garden boxes over to the northwest corner of the backyard, hoping it would get more sun there. We've had a really cool, rainy summer, so I wasn't sure how it would do, but it seems to be just exploding in the last couple of weeks. I have about 200 tomatoes coming, beans ready to pick, and I just found the most adorable little zucchini underneath all the foliage of pumpkin and squash plants.
(Here's Sophie in the garden today)
I love having a garden! Although, ever since my kids were big enough to help me with it, I never know what's going to come out of the ground. They pretty much just put seeds wherever they feel led to put them. (Which makes it pretty interesting!)
(This is Soph showing me the beans we just picked...and yes, she was eating them!)
My mom, who's thumb is greener than anyone I know, listens to me when I call her so excited over my first pepper, even though she's been eating peppers for weeks! She's so sweet to be excited for me even though she did not pass down all her "green" talent!
Here's a list of all the things we planted in our little garden:
- Peppers: green, yellow, and jalepino
- Eggplant (never planted this before...thought it'd be fun)
- Onions
- Tomatoes (Uncle Art's homegrown!)
- Herbs (sage, thyme, basil, parsley, chives, oregano, cilantro)
- Pumpkins
- Watermelon
- Celery
- Zuchinni
- Squash
Beans
